At Wapping Hockey Club we invest significantly to ensure we have the right coaches for each of our teams, whether that’s to continue our climb up the National Hockey League or encourage brand new players at our Back to Hockey sessions. This includes having dedicated coaches for every single league team at the club.
Our Vice Chair of Performance, Head Coaches and Coach Development Officer are responsible for building on the previous year’s successes and developing our coaching team.

Head Coach
We’re proud to announce the appointment of Drew Burkin as our Women’s 1st XI Head Coach and Men’s 1st XI Player/Coach ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Drew brings a wealth of experience to the club, having coached across a range of age groups and competitive levels, including women’s National League hockey. As a player, Drew has competed at the highest levels of English hockey for many years, including spells in the Premier Division of the National League. He also proudly represented Wapping’s Men’s 1st XI during their 2019/20 National League campaign.

Coach Development
As well as umpire development, Wapping have a summer coaching program for anyone keen to get into/improve their coaching.
With weekly Back2Hockey sessions, bi-weekly Kidds’ sessions and paid summer camp opportunities it’s a perfect time to get involved.
